DIY JUMBO SLIP AND SLIDES

Florida summers are brutally hot and the only way to be outside is to involve water or you will inevitably melt. It’s a fact. We have a pool but the kids get bored after so many days of me telling them to “go play in the pool”. I then tell them I spent all summer as a kid with a noodle to entertain me in the pool and they have a pool floats, a basketball net, a zip-line, a swing set, and kayaks but I digress.

Insert in our DIY JUMBO SLIP AND SLIDE! After searching cheaply-made options that were way too small and would break after one use we decided to make our own. My genius hubby thought of a way to have a multi-person, contentiously wet, reusable water slide down the hill in our back yard. If you’re looking for summer fun to entertain those kiddos while at home or even the adults still living their best lives.. this will be a crowd pleaser. Not to mention, we stopped renting bounce houses for parties because the kids prefer this fun ten times over.

We have learned that the best way is to let it dry a bit in the sun after you’re done using it and we store it rolled up with ratchet straps holding it tight and all the pieces necessary (minus the hose) stored with it. We have used ours at least 15 times and it’s still in good condition. 100% worth the investment and saved us ten fold on water slide rentals. Warning: if you leave the tarp down too long, it will kill your grass underneath. Our’s is always yellow underneath after a day or two of it down and takes a bit to recover.

****PS: Tear-free soap is essential! We learned this the hard way! You’ll want to make sure the plastic is nice and lubed up though (umm is that the proper way to say that because it’s just weird now that I typed it out) because otherwise you’ll get a slide burn.****

It’s such a fun activity for your backyard and you can really have a good time if you ride some floats down or have a sloped yard like we do. The best thing about it being jumbo sized is that so many people can go down at once. That helps eliminates sibling fights (praise the Lord) and also encourages some friendly races! Nonetheless, we hope your family enjoys it at much as ours does!
